Meet Coach Jaida Williams

I love to live life!  I am blessed beyond measure.  Everyday I wake, I thank the Lord for another opportunity to be a better person, friend, mentor, daughter, sister, and coach. Then, I thank him for his grace, mercy, and unconditional love. God is my everything.  I trust everyone and I genuinely enjoy meeting new people while maintaining the friendships I have built over the years.  I want to positively affect the lives of everyone I come in contact with.

I love to learn.  I want to be the best at whatever task I have chosen to conquer.

I love the beach.  So much so that I want to own a beachfront home, retire there, and write books.  I hope to travel the world and vacation on every beach on this Earth at least once! 🙂 I want to be a multi-millionaire and allow my parents to live the life they deserve while putting my sisters through college and helping them realize their dreams.  I hope to live a long and healthy life…

I am not perfect, but I’m a strong and honest woman. I believe in love, loyalty and living with conviction.   I hope to grow to be a prosperous businesswoman and an excellent wife. I want to continue to be a devoted family member and someday be a badass mom. And ultimately – if I become even half the person my parents are – I will consider myself successful.

What they say….

Currently a “Free Agent”….After stops at Iowa and South Florida, Jaida Williams has finished her third season as one of UC Santa Barbara’s assistant coaches.

In two out of three seasons with the Gauchos, Williams was instrumental in helping UCSB win the Big West regular-season and tournament titles and take the team to the NCAA/WNIT Tournament.

Williams joined the Gaucho staff after two successful seasons as an assistant at the University of South Florida, where she assisted with recruiting, game preparation, and player development. During her stint at USF, she successfully recruited a Top 14 class and made post season appearances during her two years.

Before joining the staff at USF, Williams served as the director of operations at the University of Iowa for one season.

Prior to joining Iowa’s staff, Williams was a standout player for Cal Poly Pomona, helping the Broncos to a 23-7 record her senior season. Graduating in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Williams helped lead Cal Poly Pomona to a spot in the NCAA Tournament Regional Final before losing to Seattle Pacific.

Williams helped the Barry Buccaneers to a 21-9 record as a freshman, where she was named to the Sunshine State Conference’s All-Freshmen Team. In her sophomore season at Barry, Williams led the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.8 points and 9.9 rebounds per game earning recognition on the All-SSC First Team and as a Kodak All-American honorable mention.

“You meet Jaida for five minutes, and you know she is special,” says head coach Lindsay Gottlieb. “She has a personality that fills up a room, she is a talented coach and recruiter, and she will be a tremendous mentor to our young women. I am thrilled that Jaida is coming back to California and joining the Gaucho family.”

Respected in the women’s basketball world as an excellent recruiter, Williams will be heavily involved in that capacity in Santa Barbara. She will also work with the post, serve as the team’s compliance liaison, and be involved in scouting.
